
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Sunday, Sept. 21.
According to the NOFD, reports of a fire on the second-floor storage room of the hotel came in at 11:02 a.m. Firefighters helped an individual in a wheelchair get to safety from the fourth floor and evacuated two other people from the second-floor balcony.
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm fire and then further escalated to a third alarm fire. Firefighters conducted checks of the third and fourth floors to make sure everyone was evacuated.
The fire was placed under control at 11:44 a.m. No deaths or injuries were reported.
