NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tyrell Morris, the former 911 Director for Orleans Parish went on trial in criminal court Monday, Sept. 22.
Morris is charged with alleged malfeasance in office, tampering with public records and insurance fraud, among other charges. Prosecutors allege Morris falsified records to hide a crash that occurred while he was driving an agency-issued car.
Prosecutors say Morris interfered with the crash investigation and altered the agency’s written policy on accidents to cover it up. A witness took the stand, testifying that Morris was drinking at a bar the night of the accident. The defense said the evidence shows Morris was not intoxicated.
