NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees is known for giving back, especially to kids.

He’s also celebrating the launch of his new Jimmy John’s sandwich, “The #9,” just like his football number.

On Friday, he joined kids from the Boys & Girls Club at the Jimmy John’s that he owns on Poydras Street.

The Saints legend and the kids made “The #9,” a custom version of the Italian Night Club, exactly the way Drew orders it, with peppers and hold the cheese.

“People ask about pre-game traditions and we would cater Jimmy John’s to the Saints facility every Saturday after our meetings and walkthroughs. Everyone would come in and grab Jimmy John’s and go into the locker room and the guys would be sitting eating Jimmy John’s near their lockers, so that’s kind of a unique element that a lot of people probably don’t know,” Brees said.

At Friday’s event, the Jimmy John’s Foundation presented a $250,000 to the Brees Foundation and a $150,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club.
