
On Tuesday night, Cupid performed one of his new songs, “The Cookout,” with Houston rap legends Bun B and Paul Wall at the Orpheum Theater.
His hit song, “Cupid Shuffle” is known for getting everyone to line dance. So, WGNO’s Kenny Lopez
For nearly 20 years, fans have fallen in love with Cupid since he blasted on the music scene back in 2006 with his infectious line dancing hit, “Cupid Shuffle.”
“I’ve been watching this line dancing movement grow. It’s been pretty much the biggest line dancing song of all time, and it’s allowed other line dances to come behind it and really push the movement. When I made it, I wanted people to dance and wanted to make people dance together,” Cupid said.
Cupid’s new album, “The Line Dance King” is set to be released on Labor Day.
Cupid said that in the future, he hopes that Essence Fest will add line dancing in the Super Lounge or on the Main Stage.
Cupid broke the Guinness World Record in 2008 for the largest line dance assembled with over 17,000 people in Atlanta for Ebony’s Black Family Reunion Tour.
