PONCHATOULA, La. (WGNO) — A Ponchatoula man has been arrested after he allegedly posted false information on social media about an escape from Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, July 25, 70-year-old Arden Wells reportedly posted about the false escape following an actual escape which had happened a month prior.
Officials say that due to the post, concern was raised in the public and several people asked if it was true. Following an investigation, Wells was arrested and charged with one count of terrorizing.
No further information was provided.
