ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A former member of the Covington Police Department has been indicted on allegations involving child pornography.

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted 41-year-old Randall Joseph “Trey” Mahon III on 17 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile under 13.

Mahon is the former Covington Police Department Chief of Police who previously faced five charges of possession of pornography involving juveniles and a charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile under 13.

A joint investigation done by the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office’s Special Victim’s Unit Task Force, the Covington Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs, revealed additional child sex abuse material was discovered on Mahon electronic devices and cloud storage.

He is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing on Sept. 25.
