It recently completed a year of remodeling its facilities on Williams Boulevard.
Whether you speak Spanish or English, the Mendoza Medical Clinic speaks volumes with the way they care.
A patient named Loren said, “I am bilingual, but there are many in the community that don’t speak English. So, it is very helpful to come to your medical provider knowing and having peace of mind that they are fluent in Spanish. So, that’s an added plus. It is wonderful,” she said.
Dr. Roberto Clemente Mendoza started Mendoza Medical Clinic with Spanish speakers in mind.
“He wanted to be an advocate and a voice for his community,” Peggy Mendoza said about her father, Roberto Mendoza.
“He passed away 13 years ago, but we as a family made the decision that his legacy and what he did was important to keep going,” she said.
It is important that, after the clinic was recently remodeled, its new look still has a family feel.
“We’ve got new sewer pipes, new walls, all new electric, a new gas line for generators during hurricanes, and we don’t want it to feel like a hospital. We want people to feel comfortable coming to the doctor,” Peggy Mendoza said.
The Mendoza family is Honduran, and they are carrying on his legacy. The mother and Mendoza’s wife, Mirna, work the front desk. The daughter, Minny, sees patients, and the other daughter, Peggy, handles the business side.
“I try my best. My children are the ones who really take care of this office. That’s why my kids want to continue his legacy,” Mirna Mendoza said.
“He built this office to help his people and anyone who needs it. I just reiterate how family-oriented we are. There’s a lot of trust when you come here. They say, my mom and dad brought me here, and now I’m bringing my own child here,” Minny Mendoza-Lavelle said.
The Mendoza Medical Clinic serves over 3,000 patients, many of whom are third generation.
Mendoza Medical Clinic first started as just pediatric care, but now it is primary care for families, children and adults.
