BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Buskirk-Chumley Theater has announced several upcoming May events, including the Cosmic Songwriter Festival, a screening of “Mamma Mia!,” an improv comedy performance and a benefit concert for Stone Belt.

The Cosmic Songwriter Festival 2026 is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 16 and will feature Clayton Anderson with Liv LaFluv and Cara Jean Wahlers. Anderson, a Southern Indiana-raised country singer-songwriter, built a following playing the Indiana University circuit before winning Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star in 2008 and moving to Nashville. His music has since appeared in ESPN programming and national campaigns, according to the theater. A 60% discount is available with the code COSMIC.

Constellation Stage & Screen and the Buskirk-Chumley Theater will present a screening of the 2008 film “Mamma Mia!” at 7 p.m. May 15. The event will include a pre-show costume contest, photo booth and themed cocktail. The movie musical, based on the Broadway show, features ABBA songs and follows a bride-to-be searching for her father.

“Whose Live Anyway?” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. May 18. The improv tour features cast members from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” including Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davis and Joel Murray, with musical direction by Laura Hall. The 90-minute show is based on audience suggestions and includes audience participation. The theater notes that all ages are welcome, but the performance may include some PG-13 language.

Stone Belt will present its sixth annual Belt Out Loud! concert at 7 p.m. May 30, featuring Cody Ikerd and the Sidewinders. Proceeds will support Stone Belt services for people with developmental disabilities, including employment training, day and residential services and advocacy support. The event is sponsored by IU Credit Union, Old National Bank, Office Easel, Tri-County Hydraulics, Resource Services and Visit Bloomington.

The theater also highlighted the Granfalloon Concert Series at Switchyard Park, presented by IU Arts & Humanities. Upcoming concerts include Waxahatchee with Kathleen Edwards on June 20, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings on July 18, and Durand Jones & The Indications on Aug. 29. Granfalloon is presented in partnership with the Indiana University Office of the Vice President for University Relations, the City of Bloomington, Visit Bloomington and the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.
