New Jersey Lottery Reports Four $2 Million Powerball Tickets Sold in One Week

Four Powerball tickets worth $2 million were sold across New Jersey between April 27 and May 3. This happened during a wave of big lottery wins that hit the state. Brigantine, Rivervale, Somerdale, and Union City each had one winning ticket on April 29.

New Jersey Lottery officials said 25 players won prizes of at least $10,000 during the week. More than a dozen other tickets matched for $1 million prizes. These came from retailers in Bergen, Essex, Middlesex, Monmouth, Passaic, Union, and Ocean counties, according to Shore News Network.

Stores in Newark, Toms River, Holmdel, Old Bridge, and Elizabeth sold $1 million tickets.

Wins stretched from the state’s northern tip to its southern edge. Other prizes during the week included a $500,000 Triple Match ticket sold in Perth Amboy and a $500,000 scratch-off prize in West Long Branch. Several $100,000 prizes were also reported, including wins in Englewood, Newark, and Jersey City. Some players took home $10,000.

April 29 marked one of the most successful single days for Powerball players in the state. The $2 million tickets show winners matched five numbers and had the Power Play option.

Lottery officials said proceeds continue to support education programs. The funds generated from ticket sales go toward various school initiatives statewide.

The surge of wins comes as Powerball drawings continue twice weekly. Players select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26.

Tickets cost $2 per play. The Power Play option, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn, is available for an additional $1.
