WASHINGTON – May 12, 2026
The Indiana University Hoosiers were honored Monday at the White House after their historic national championship season.
President Donald J. Trump delivered remarks on the South Lawn of the White House during an event celebrating the 2025 College Football Champions, the Indiana University Hoosiers, Monday, May 11, 2026.
“This was a year that will live forever in the hearts of Indiana football fans,” Trump said. “There’s no story like this.”
Trump congratulated head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers for completing a 16-0 season and winning Indiana’s first college football national championship.
“They were a little underestimated,” Trump said. “But not anymore.”
During the ceremony, Trump was presented with Indiana Hoosiers football gear, including a helmet, jersey and signed football. The College Football Playoff National Championship trophy and an IU helmet were also displayed in the Oval Office.
Cignetti credited IU President Pamela Whitten, Athletic Director Scott Dolson, the coaching staff, players and Hoosier fans for the championship run.
“Prepare the right way every single day to a high standard, and anything is possible in life,” Cignetti said.
Junior wide receiver Charlie Becker also thanked Hoosier fans, saying the team would remember the White House visit “for the rest of our lives.”
