Plainfield town election: Multiple races up for grabs

PLAINFIELD — Town Clerk Ruth Osgood said it is “unusual” to have so many races up for grabs at the annual town election, but that’s just what will happen on Saturday in Plainfield. There will be races for the Board of Health, Library Trustee and town moderator.

While incumbent Ronald Weeks of the Board of Health is technically in a race, he said in an interview this week that he is not in it to win. He actually encouraged his 26-year-old challenger Henry Stockman to run because Weeks believes in bringing in more talent to local government.

In the Library Trustee race, incumbent Donna Monroe is up against Adrian Almquist, while the two candidates for moderator include incumbent David Honneus and challenger Levi Gershkowitz.

In uncontested races, Elizabeth Lambert is the only candidate on the ballot for the Select Board, as she seeks to replace Judith Cole, who is not seeking another term.

Dan LaChance is seeking another term on the Board of Assessors, and newcomer David Bjorklund is the only school committee candidate on the ballot.

Polls will be open from noon through 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 304 Main St.
