A driver’s illegal turn led to a crash with a Metro Green Line train in St. Paul on Monday morning, according to the transportation operator.
Metro Transit police and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to the intersection of University Avenue and Hampden Avenue shortly after 6:30 a.m.
Officials say that the train was heading westbound when it hit a car. Metro Transit says that the driver disobeyed a traffic signal and made an illegal left turn.
The driver was not injured, a Metro Transit spokesperson said.
Light rail service was shut down in both directions until around 7 a.m. but has since restarted.
