Man shot and killed in Holyoke

HOLYOKE — A man was shot and killed on Sargeant Street Saturday night, according to Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.

Holyoke Police responded to a report of shots fired with an injured victim in the area of 139 Sargeant St. at 5:39 p.m. Saturday.

Arriving on the scene, officers saw a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a written statement from Gulluni’s office. Officers began to provide life-saving measures to the man before he was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting remains an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Hampden District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit and Murder Unit, as well as the Holyoke Police Department, Gulluni’s Office stated. There is no ongoing threat to the public, according to the DA’s office.

Gulluni’s Office could not be reached for comment when contacted on Monday.
