Wisycom is expanding its MPR60 wideband IEM/IFB receiver with a firmware update introducing a multichannel IFB mode that significantly increases RF efficiency for large-scale broadcast and live production.

The update, to be highlighted at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, in Booth C4428, enables up to three IFB audio channels over a single 200 kHz RF carrier, increasing channel density within a minimal RF footprint. When paired with Wisycom’s MTK982 transmitter, it can deliver up to 60 IFB audio channels in an 8 MHz TV channel or 45 channels in a 6 MHz channel.

One MTK982 supports six audio channels, reducing the need for two additional transmitters and RF combiners or antennas. The system maintains full wideband coverage from 470 to 1,260 MHz and preserves RF robustness even in multichannel mode.

Targeted for productions requiring multiple IFB feeds over wide coverage zones — including major broadcasts, racing events, OB units and global tours — the MPR60 now features an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, aimed at outdoor and mobile use.

“We have some of the most demanding customers touring the world with extensive broadcast solutions to ensure events are watched by millions,” said René Moerch, Wisycom group product director. “These clients will benefit from this additional MPR60/MTK982 feature that minimizes rack space while preserving the RF robustness required for highly demanding, RF‑overcrowded events.”

The firmware lets users select among operating modes — 1‑channel wideband IFB, 1‑channel narrowband IFB and an optional 3‑channel IFB — to meet different audio bandwidth needs. The MPR60 remains compatible with Wisycom’s MTP60, MTP61 and MTH610 transmitters for single‑channel IFB; the 3‑channel mode requires a license on the MTK982.

The update also adds support for ENR and ENC companders for backward compatibility with legacy Wisycom systems. An optional multichannel IFB license enables using one, instead of three, MTK982 dual transmitters while supporting two RF carriers and up to six audio channels, further reducing ancillary gear.

The MPR60 and MTK982 hardware are available now. The new functions will be offered via a separate license starting April 22.

Firmware requirements: MPR60 v1.3.0, MTK982 v2.6.0 and Wisycom Manager v5.0.0. The complete firmware/software package will be available April 22.
