Producers previously relied on manual searches to find archive material. With the platform in place, teams working on 5 at 5, the hour-long daily news bulletin, can locate footage in seconds, improving turnaround time and the depth of coverage.
“We’re committed to putting the right AI tools in our teams’ hands — tools that make a genuine impact at the heart of production,” Tim Forrest, ITN’s director of distribution and innovation, said. “Moments Lab gives the 5 News team exactly what they need: the ability to find the footage they’re looking for quickly, enriched with the context to make it useful.”
Forrest said the deployment marks a step forward for 5 News operations, adding that ITN is working with Moments Lab to operationalize the AI discovery layer with humans in the loop and a path toward agentic workflows.
“News production is one of the most time-pressured environments in media, and every minute counts,” Phil Petitpont, Moments Lab founder-CEO, said. “This partnership with ITN and 5 News exemplifies what Moments Lab was built to do — get the right footage to the right person, fast.”
Moments Lab’s clients include Fulwell Entertainment, Sinclair, TF1, M6, Asharq News, AFP, the European Broadcasting Union and Brut.
Moments Lab will be at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, in Booth N1011.
