State Police tactical team converges on Tamaqua home
TAMAQUA – State and local law enforcement had a home in Tamaqua surrounded early Sunday morning.
State troopers and Tamaqua Police converged on a home at Railroad and Vine Streets in the borough just before midnight Saturday, remaining on scene well into Sunday morning.
Troopers surrounded the home with rifles drawn and aimed as an automated message continuously repeated that the State Police had a search warrant for the home.
The State Police Special Emergency Response Team — a tactical unit — deployed, putting a drone in the air and relieving the first-responding troopers who were seen returning to a command post with a rifle and shield.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken into custody just before 4am
