Man charged with murder in St. Paul homicide

A man is facing charges for a fatal shooting in St. Paul earlier this week.

Eithan Armani Green, 29, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of illegally possessing a firearm.

Court documents say that just after 10 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to the 100 block of Oneida Street in St. Paul for a shooting.

Officers found a running Dodge Durango parked on Oneida Street with several bullet holes through the front driver’s side window and a man, later identified as 23-year-old David Lee Turner III, in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical aid, he died on scene, the criminal complaint states.

Video surveillance showed the Dodge Durango and a blue SUV parked on the street just before 10 p.m.

Court records note that a man, later identified as Green, got out of the blue SUV, got into the Durango’s passenger side and shots were heard a short time later. Green got out of the Durango and ran back to the blue SUV, which then drove away, the complaint says.

At around 10:12 p.m., officers responded to Regions Hospital, where Green was in the emergency room with gunshot wounds to his torso and leg. Court documents say that Green is currently in the hospital in serious but stable condition.

An examination of Green’s phone number showed that it was in the area at the time of the shooting, according to the complaint.

On Tuesday, Minneapolis police arrested a man in a car registered to Green and found two cell phones and a gun in the vehicle. Court documents note the man’s phone number was the same one communicating with Turner just before his death.

Green spoke with the police and said he was drunk and high when he got shot. He denied shooting anyone and said he didn’t recognize the vehicles or Turner.

When interviewed by authorities, the other man said that he and Green had previously bought weed from Turner, and he was driving the blue Ford Escape on the night of the shooting to meet Turner.

The other man denied that it was an arranged robbery, but said Green had his gun on him all day, court records note. He said that Green got out of the Escape, into the Durango and then heard two different guns fire.

When Green ran back to the Escape, he said, “I shot him,” according to the other man.

The criminal complaint says that when the man asked Green why they shot each other, he said Turner “got to shooting,” so then he “got to shooting.”

The other man said he brought Green to the hospital and said Green left a gun and his phone in the Escape.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Turner and found that he had 10 total gunshot wounds.

Green has six prior felony convictions — possession of a controlled substance, two counts of first-degree aggravated robberies, two domestic assaults and fourth-degree assault. He has been charged via warrant.
