Slick roads Monday morningUse extra caution when traveling Monday morning.

Drivers may want to leave a little early Monday morning, as some light snow/sleet overnight created some slippery spots on roadways that could slow commutes.

Several crashes were already reported around the Twin Cities metro area by 5:30 a.m.

A system of light snow and sleet moved across the area between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, coating roads just enough to create some slick spots.

Minnesota Department of Transportation plows are out on roadways but some slippery areas could still cause problems and slow traffic Monday morning.

Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution and leave a little extra space between vehicles. Check 511MN to see travel conditions before leaving.

Ken Barlow says any slick spots early today will go away; quiet and mild for travel this week

Temperatures Monday will warm into the high 30s, eliminating any slick spots later in the day.

Skies will be partly sunny and it will be a mild day for late December in what is forecast to be a very mild week overall.
