Judge dismisses Minneapolis encampment lawsuit
The lawsuit argued it caused emotional distress to those living in the encampment when it was cleared multiple times since January 2024.
However, a federal judge ruled no reasonable jury would find the mayor’s actions extreme or outrageous, dismissing the challenge.
A city spokesperson told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, “The City is pleased with the Court’s decision. Encampments are not a safe or dignified form of shelter and pose serious public health and safety concerns. The Mayor and his administration have made affordable housing a top priority, and City staff and partners will continue to work to provide for the health and safety of unsheltered individuals and the community.”
