BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — December 2, 2025
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person believed to be deceased was found in a wooded area northwest of Bloomington Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:34 p.m., deputies were dispatched to woods near Union Valley Road and West Maple Grove Road for a report of a possible deceased individual, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing but that no foul play is suspected at this time.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office is handling identification of the individual and will determine cause and manner of death following an autopsy. The coroner’s office is also working to notify the person’s next of kin.
