50-year-old dies after crashing into crane truck in Faribault

A 50-year-old man was killed in a crash over the weekend, according to a news release from the Faribault Police Department.

First responders were called to the crash just before 8 a.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Seventh Street and Lydale Avenue North.

Authorities say that 50-year-old Jamie William Wright rear-ended a Peterbilt crane truck that was stopped at a red light. Wright was critically injured and pinned in his Chevy pickup.

Fire crews extricated Wright from the truck — a “lengthy” process due to the damage to the truck, police said. Investigators say the pickup hit the crane truck at “a significant speed.”

Wright was brought to a medical helicopter at the Faribault Municipal Airport, but he died from his injuries when he got there.

The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
