15-year-old boy dies after St. Cloud crash

The St. Cloud Police Department said a 15-year-old boy who was injured in a vehicle crash earlier this month has died.

According to police, the initial crash occurred on Nov. 4 at 7:31 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 75 and Traverse Road in St. Cloud.

Police said the crash occurred when a southbound passenger vehicle collided with a northbound vehicle, which had turned in front of the southbound car. Police said both vehicles had a green light at the time of the crash.

In the turning vehicle, a 22-year-old man sustained minor injuries, but his backseat passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was pinned inside the car, sustaining serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The 15-year-old in the front passenger seat was found unconscious and not breathing.

Inside the southbound vehicle, police said the 20-year-old driver only received minor injuries.

The teenager was flown to the hospital for potential life-threatening injuries. Nine days later, police announced he had died due to his injuries; he has not been identified at this time.

Police said the driver of the turning vehicle was initially cited for failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. At this time, the police department is still investigating the crash.
