Event Overview
Commissioners say the food distribution aims to help local residents struggling with access to groceries amid rising food prices, ongoing federal furloughs, and recent challenges related to SNAP benefits. Participants will receive one food box per family, per vehicle, while supplies last.
Commissioner Stormy Gage-Watts said the initiative reflects the Parish’s commitment to addressing local hunger needs.
“We know that many families in our community are struggling right now, especially with challenges accessing SNAP benefits, the impact of federal furloughs, and the rising costs of food,” Gage-Watts said. “Providing distribution opportunities, such as the Commission’s event, is a way to offer immediate relief and ensure that no one in our parish has to face food insecurity alone.”
Love Shreveport-Bossier Media confirmed that the event was made possible through funding from the Caddo Parish Commission and a partnership with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, which will oversee food acquisition and distribution.
