Six injured in head-on-crash Sunday near Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — November 10, 2025

Six people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash on East Smithville Road Sunday afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the 600 block of E. Smithville Road at 3:17 p.m. on November 9 for a report of a traffic crash with serious injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

A preliminary investigation indicates a white Toyota Prius crossed left of center and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Equinox traveling in the opposite direction.

All four occupants of the Prius and both occupants of the Equinox were transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital. The sheriff’s office did not release additional information about their conditions.

Investigators with the Major Crash Investigation Team responded and are continuing to investigate.
