Sun Belt Conference suspends 13 players following postgame brawl between Texas State & Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Sun Belt Conference has announced suspensions for several players following a postgame fight at the conclusion of the Texas State vs. Louisiana football game on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The suspensions were issued after reviewing video footage of the incident, which occurred at the end of a competitive regional rivalry game.

“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill. “While the spirit of competition is central to what we do in college athletics, postgame actions like these will not be tolerated in the Sun Belt Conference.”

From Texas State, the suspended players include #0 Tymere Jackson, who will miss two games, and #4 Khamari Terrell, #66 Justin DeLeon, #90 Kyran Bourda, #91 J.P. Deeter and #97 Devarrick Woods, each suspended for one game.

From Louisiana, #4 Tyree Skipper has been suspended for the remainder of the 2025 season, including any potential bowl game. Other Louisiana players suspended for one game include #7 Courtline Flowers, #8 Kody Jackson, #16 Kailep Edwards, #35 Collin Jacob, #84 Evan Stroman and #94 De’Antonio Lesueur.

Louisiana Athletics issued a statement acknowledging the conference’s decision.

“We thank the Sun Belt Conference for reviewing the incidents following Saturday’s football game against Texas State,” the statement read. “We understand the league’s decision to hold those involved accountable for their actions.”

The Sun Belt Conference has closed the matter and will not comment further, while Louisiana Athletics has expressed a commitment to aligning their actions with the values of the conference and university.

Louisiana football is on bye this week before returning to action on Nov. 20 at Arkansas State, a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN.
