Retired Deaf Smith County Municipal Judge publicly reprimanded by State Commission on Judicial Conduct

HEREFORD, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Following a review of allegations against retired Municipal Court Judge, Jennifer Eggen, in Hereford, the State Commission on Judicial Conduct has issued a Public Reprimand in admonishment of Eggen.

The SCJD, met on Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 and concluded a review of allegations made against Eggen. The commission said Eggen had failed to comply with the law and maintain professional competence in the law.

The documents said Eggen failed to perform her judicial duties “without bias or prejudice, through words or conduct, manifested bias or prejudice, including, but not limited to bias or prejudice based upon race, national origin and socioeconomic status…”

According to the documents, Eggen wrote a response to the commission stating that she is no longer employed by the City of Hereford Municipal Court having retired after 19 years. Eggen later wrote in a second response that she denies any misconduct listed in the document.
