BATON ROUGE, La. (
Louisiana First) — Commissioner of Insurance Tim Temple delivered an announcement about Louisiana’s Fortified Roof Program during a news conference on Monday, Nov. 10.
Temple was joined by several other speakers, including:
- Alex Cary, Director of FORTIFIED Market Development, IBHS
- Ryan Theriot, Partner, Parish Construction & Roofing
- Stephen Curtis, Louisiana Homeowner and LFHP Participant
According to officials, Louisiana reached the milestone of 10,000 Fortified roofs in the state.
Fortified roofs are specifically designed to prevent damage that commonly occurs during high winds, hurricanes, hailstorms and severe thunderstorms. They are built with stronger edges, sealed roof decks, impact-resistant shingles and are better attached with ring-shank nails.
