The program grants up to $10,000 to eligible homeowners to make their roofs stronger. The Louisiana Department of Insurance said 500 grants will be available for residents in the Coastal Zone and Lake Charles, Sulphur and Westlake.
“We have issued over 3,700 grants since the Fortify Homes Program launched in 2023, and the number of homes FORTIFIED without a grant has also grown tremendously from under 1,000 at the beginning of last year to over 5,500 today,” said Commissioner Tim Temple. “This program is vital for protecting our state against severe weather and making Louisiana a more attractive place for insurers to do business.”
Anyone who registered in September 2024 or February 2025 will automatically be registered. A homeowner who registered for a grant round before September 2024 will need to register again for this round.
Registration is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. Click here to register for the lottery.
