CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The investigation into a Caddo Correctional Center Deputy who was arrested for alleged contraband smuggling has led to additional charges for a current inmate and the arrest of his girlfriend.

A CPSO news release announced that Chamorea Bell, 29, an inmate at CCC, arranged a meeting between the former deputy, Chardell Edwards, 30, and his girlfriend, Chamarian Worthy, 23.

The two met at a location that investigators are not disclosing to discuss how Worthy would provide the contraband to Edwards, which Edwards would deliver to Bell, who was incarcerated at the time.

After investigators secured a warrant through Judge Chris Victory, Worthy was arrested at her home and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for transporting contraband to and from a penal institution.

Bell is still an inmate at CCC, and a new charge was added to his list of charges that he was awaiting trial, which includes manufacture and distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while concealing a weapon as a felon, and a probation violation.
