SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! We’re closing out the workweek on a nice note as cooler Autumn temperatures have taken over.
Northern Utah’s temperatures will be right on target for this time of year with a mix of sun and clouds, but central and southern Utah will run about 5 degrees above average with clear skies. Daytime highs will be similar to yesterday across the state with temperatures reaching the 50s in the north, mid 60s in the south, and mid 70s for the St. George area.
We could see a couple light showers in the northernmost part of the state around the Cache Valley area, but we can’t rule out a brief shower as far south as the Salt Lake Valley.
This weekend will be a great one to get outside and enjoy the pleasant conditions thanks to building high pressure across the West. As it approaches its clockwise rotation will mean northerly winds for the Beehive State, which will transport cool northern air into the region. Southern Utah won’t notice a huge change in temperatures, but the north will fall into the upper 40s to low 50s. Luckily, we expect plenty of sunshine which will make the cooler temperatures feel just right.
As high pressure centers itself over Utah on Sunday, we will see temperatures start warming back up again, eventually reaching the 60s in the north again by early next week. High pressure remains in control through the middle of the week, so the nice weather is here to stay for a little while longer!
