Highs today will return to the low to mid 50s north, and mid 70s for SW Utah. Tonight, look for mostly clear skies and another chilly start to our morning. Lows will dip into the 20s and 30s north, and 30s and 40s across the south for our Saturday morning.
High pressure will be the dominate weather story through the weekend. A weak cut-off low pressure will try to skim southern Utah, bringing a slight chance for a shower or two for this weekend across far southern Utah. A stronger storm system continues to look likely next week in the Monday through Tuesday time frame, bringing a better chance for widespread precipitation and some cooler temperatures to the state. It’s still early, but looks like a mostly all-snow event for our northern mountains, with valley rain on Monday.
As the low pressure moves through the state Tuesday, looks like we may see snow levels drop to the mountain valleys and near the valley floors by Tuesday morning. This could lead to a rain/snow mix or even a round of valley snow on Tuesday. Mountains and mountain valleys will likely see some accumulations, although still a bit early to pinpoint exact numbers.
The pattern looks to remain active through the end of next week, and potentially through mid-March with several more systems potentially on the horizon.
