Clearing skies and seasonal temperatures through the weekend

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! Our Friday afternoon will feature mostly cloudy skies across northern Utah as a weak front moves across the area.

This front will not have much in the way of moisture to work with, but a spotty shower can’t be ruled out across portions of Cache Valley and near the Bear River Range. Highs will remain in the 50s to near 60 across most of northern Utah. Central and southern Utah will see lots of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Highs will warm into the mid 60s to mid 70s for this area.

This weekend will be a perfect, fall-like weekend to get out and rake the leaves or just visit any corn mazes. We’re looking at lots of sunshine areawide as high pressure keeps any weather systems or even clouds away from Utah.

High temperatures will be in the 50s across northern Utah on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will warm into the low to mid 70s for SW Utah this weekend. Morning low temperatures will drop down into the 20s and 30s for northern Utah with overnight lows dipping down into the low to mid 40s for SW Utah.

A deep trough will develop for central and eastern parts of the country early next week, leading to a big ridge building here in the west. This will lead to more high pressure, sunshine, and the return to above average high temperatures in Utah. This pattern will likely stick around through all of next week as the pattern will hold strong. A few clouds will move through from time to time, but sunshine should be the dominant sky feature through next week.

The pattern looks to finally break down by the end of next week as we start to see a trough develop to our west. This will lead to a storm system tracking into the western half of the country by next weekend. This will bring the return of wetter conditions and potentially cooler conditions to the region.
