Woman killed after fight leads to stabbing inside Avondale apartment

CHICAGO — A woman was killed on Wednesday afternoon after a fight inside a Northwest Side apartment led to a stabbing, police say.

According to police, the deadly stabbing unfolded around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of North Woodard Street, in Avondale, after a fight broke out between the victim, a 55-year-old woman, and an unknown male.

While it is unclear what sparked the altercation, officers said that amid the fight, the male pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the face and neck.

The victim was later taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officers did not say if anyone was arrested in connection with the incident, and it is unclear what led up to the fight.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed.
