Public advised to avoid downtown Los Altos amid 'significant' gas leak
The leak was reported by fire officials just after 10 a.m. and is located near First Street in Parking Plaza North. The fire department said an audible leak could be heard, “indicating a significant amount of gas escaping.”
Evacuations are in place for the area south of Edith, east of Foothill, north of Main and west of Second Street, SCCFD said.
PG&E crews on scene have secured the leak, officials said in a 10:44 a.m. update.
Police and fire departments are working together to facilitate the evacuations in place.
