SCCFD said the Rescue 73 engine from its Saratoga fire station responded to the blaze at 11:08 a.m. on Fruitvale Avenue.
Several West Valley Community police officers hopped in with fire extinguishers to help put out the flames before firefighters arrived at the location.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Officials said fire crews knocked down the blaze by 11:31 p.m., but that’s when another potentially dangerous situation broke out.
“Hazmat 72 from our Cupertino fire station was requested to remediate a fuel leak resulting from the fire,” said officials in a social media post.
Investigators believe that the fire started in the engine compartment of the torched vehicle. The cause of the incident has not been determined.
