Once police arrived, they found two juvenile males near a vehicle with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Both victims have been transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

According to IMPD, the victims both suffered very “grave” injuries and are not expected to survive. Two firearms were recovered and SWAT was able to detain one person of interest who was barricaded inside the residence after they peacefully exited.

The roadway will be shut down for a significant time while IMPD continues its investigation and searches the residence.

It is believed to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community.

“This is a senseless, senseless act of violence we find ourselves here time and time again,” said IMPD Officer Drew Brown. “Where we are responding to scenes where anger has taken over rational thought, and where anger has spiraled into some pulling the trigger on somebody. And affecting that person’s life.”

IMPD is asking anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475, Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477 or (TIPS) to remain anonymous.

No additional information is available at this time.
