Man found safe after being reported missing by the Tazewell Police Department
UPDATE: Friday, October 31, 2025 @ 4:05 p.m. | TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVNS) — According to the Tazewell Police Department, Robert Ray Stafford was found safe.

The Tazewell Police Department stated that the incident remains under investigation.


TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WVNS) — The Tazewell Police Department asked for the public’s help finding a man who was reported missing from Tazewell County.

According to a press release, Robert Ray Stafford was reported missing on Friday, October 31, 2025 and was last seen leaving his house in North Tazewell, Virginia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and was reportedly headed to Palm Beach County, Florida Courthouse.

The press release from the Tazewell Police Department stated that Stafford was supposed to call his daughter, but no one has reportedly heard Stafford since he left his home. Stafford also has dementia and suffered a traumatic brain injury in year 1993.

According to the Tazewell Police Department, Stafford is a white man who weighs 145 pounds, is five feet nine inches tall, has no tattoos, has a long grey and blond ponytail, scars on eyes and shoulders, and was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, boots, and a brown jacket.

The Tazewell Police Department stated that Stafford was driving a 2025 Nissan Sentra, blue four door Sedan, with V. I. N. 3N1AB8CV0SY207987 and Virginia registration TFU-8342.

Anyone who sees Stafford is advised to check on him and contact the Tazewell Police Department and/or the Palm County Florida Sheriff’s Office.
