1 hospitalized in shooting near Ball State University campus

MUNCIE, Ind. – An investigation is underway after a shooting was reported near Ball State University’s campus Saturday morning.

According to a post from the Ball State University’s Police Department, the department was assisting the Muncie Police Department with a shooting investigation in the 1700 block of North Rosewood Avenue & W. Bethel Avenue around 1 a.m.

Ball State PD said there is no ongoing threat to the campus, but investigators did stay at the scene.

According to the Muncie Police Department, a 20-year-old male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound arrived at the IU Health/Ball Memorial Hospital. Investigators determined that this individual was shot during the incident at N. Rosewood Ave.

Muncie PD is still actively investigating the shooting by interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance. The 20-year-old is currently in stable condition and being detained for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
