The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 30 where East Main Street intersects with K-4 Highway in Meriden. A Toyota Highlander was traveling east on East Main Street towards the highway while a Ford Escape was heading west on K-4.
The KHP said the driver of the Toyota Highlander turned the vehicle east onto K-4 Highway and failed to yield to the right of way to the westbound Ford Escape driver. The Ford Escape then collided with the driver’s side of the Toyota Highlander.
The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 46-year-old Ozawkie man, was not injured in the crash. The 17-year-old Ozawkie man driving the Ford Escape had serious injuries and was taken to a Topeka hospital for treatment.
