According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the case involved an 11-year-old girl who had been messaging her family, stating she had been taken from her home in another state by an adult male.
Multiple agencies, including the West Virginia State Police, Moundsville Police Department, and the FBI, assisted in the response. The Walmart store was temporarily locked down to secure the scene and ensure public safety.
Inside the store, officers found the child with an adult female, who was detained and questioned. The woman provided information that led officers to the male suspect’s residence. The man was taken into custody for further questioning.
The investigation is ongoing. No additional information is being released at this time to protect the case and the child’s privacy.
Authorities say further updates will be provided when available.
