Indianapolis Metro police officers were called just after 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of Englewood Drive on report of a person stabbed. This is a residential area near 16th Street and Shadeland Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found two adult males suffering from “injuries consistent with trauma.” Both people were taken to local hospitals, with one being listed in critical condition and the other being listed as stable.
IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson later confirmed around 12:45 p.m. that the victim who was in critical condition had died from his stab wounds.
The second man who was taken to the hospital is allegedly the suspect in the stabbing, Thompson said. That person is in custody and receiving treatment for trauma injuries sustained during the incident. In an update around 1:30 p.m., IMPD referred to him as a person of interest.
Thompson said that the stabbing was an isolated incident that began as a family disturbance inside a home on Englewood Drive.
