On Saturday, October 25, deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Mocksville Road. The caller told dispatch that the suspect had threatened to kill her before the call ended.
When they arrived, they heard a woman screaming about a gun. Deputies made contact with the suspect, 35-year-old Joshua Anson Orner, but did not find a gun at the time, officials said. However, it was later found when authorities searched outside the residence.
During the investigation, deputies determined a woman was assaulted at the residence. When Orner was being placed under arrest, he reportedly tried to flee and then assaulted the deputies.
Officials did not say how badly the woman or the officers were injured.
He was eventually taken into custody and charged with:
- Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Felony Assault by Strangulation Inflicting Serious Injury
- Misdemeanor Assault on a Female
- Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
- Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official
- Misdemeanor Resist Delay Obstruct
- Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance
Deputies learned Orner was a convicted felon with multiple prior felony convictions. He is being held without bond.
