Rayne woman killed in bicycle crash in West Baton Rouge Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that killed a bicyclist early Saturday morning in West Baton Rouge Parish.

According to LSP, the crash happened shortly before 2 a.m. on U.S. 190 at Grand Bayou Road. State police said Erin Constantin, 34, of Rayne, was riding a bicycle westbound in the left lane while wearing dark clothing and without front or rear lights.

At the same time, a 2024 Hyundai Elantra was also traveling west on U.S. 190 and struck the bike from behind.

Constantin sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. LSP said the driver of the Hyundai, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

LSP said that impairment is unknown. Routine toxicology samples will be sent for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
