Paincourtville man accused of raping girl for years

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Deputies arrested a Paincourtville man accused of raping a relative after the victim came forward to Texas authorities.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said Gage Austin Gros, 29, was charged with first-degree rape in connection with incidents that allegedly happened between July 2022 and July 2025.

According to deputies, a girl under the age of 12 reported to Texas authorities that a relative in Assumption Parish allegedly raped her. Authorities in Montgomery County forwarded findings to the sheriff’s office in October.

Detectives found evidence after search warrants were conducted, and Gros was booked into jail Wednesday, where he remains pending a bond hearing.
