Will SNAP benefits be available in Mississippi in November?

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – If the federal government shutdown continues, officials with the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) said federally funded SNAP benefits for November 2025 will be unavailable.

MDHS officials said they received notification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS) about the decision.

According to officials, MDHS has been directed to pause November issuance pending further guidance from their federal partners.

There are resources to help people in need, including the Mississippi Food Network, Mid-South Food Bank, and Catholic Charities of South MS.
