Gonzales couple accused of contractor fraud, theft over $25k arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Gonzales couple is facing charges after deputies said they took nearly $187,000 for a home construction project that was never completed.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Angel Lambert, 37, and William Lambert III, 43, were arrested and charged with residential contractor fraud, forgery, obstruction of justice, and theft over $25,000.

Deputies began investigating in June after a victim reported paying the couple for work that had not started as of April. Detectives later learned the Lamberts were not licensed contractors and had hired unlicensed workers before abandoning the project.

The sheriff’s office said the couple falsified documents and gave them to detectives during the investigation. Both were arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
