SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Thursday, Utah!  Our Thursday afternoon will feature scattered valley rain showers and mountain snow showers north of I-80.

This activity will slowly come to an end this evening as the area of low pressure moves further north and east.

Meanwhile, areas of central and southern Utah will feature clear skies Thursday afternoon with high temperatures well below normal. Highs in southern Utah will only be in the 60s, with highs only in the 40s and 50s for northern Utah.

A Freeze watch is in effect tonight for portions of the west Desert, Castle country, and Uintas. This will likely get the upgrade to a warning by Friday morning as temperatures dip down into the upper 20s to low 30s there. Everyone else will see lows dipping down into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

The good news is that Friday into the upcoming weekend is looking perfect for any outdoor fall activities. Highs will be in the 60s for northern Utah and into the low to mid 70s for southern Utah. The sun will return and shine across the state in full force through the weekend.
