INDIANAPOLIS — There is an unspoken competition that goes on in the fall: who has the coolest porch decor?

From giant skeletons and creative spooky displays, to intricate pumpkin formations, sometimes you need some help to pull off your vision.

A pair of Indianapolis women created a business that will make you the talk of the block without having to lift a finger.

Brooke Williams and Molly Shreve have been friends for years.

In 2023, they combined their love for celebrations and began offering their design services to a wider audience, beyond their close friends and family, to create Porch Pop Indy.

They source pumpkins from local farms, and in a matter of hours, your porch goes from looking drab to the perfect fall backdrop, seemingly in a snap.

The two do all the heavy lifting themselves. They load the pumpkins into a trailer from the farms and pull up to your house like little pumpkin fairies ready to sprinkle a little spice onto your porch.

“That is part of the fun and part of the challenge. I think every porch we go to looks very unique and very different for that house,” said Brooke Williams, the co-owner of Porch Pop Indy.

The duo says they can’t believe how much interest their business has picked up in such a short time.

“It really exploded from year one to year two, and we already have so many inquiries wanting to be on our email list and newsletters and all of this good stuff for next year,” said Molly Shreve, the co-owner of Porch Pop Indy.

While the process of placing each pumpkin and gord individually is a fun mental game for them, the reward is in the final masterpiece.

“When an order is placed, we have no idea the reason behind why they are ordering. If they just want something pretty out on the porch or it is just a gift for somebody else,” said Williams. “We have had clients (who) are not able physically to walk or drive to get the pumpkins and deliver them. We have had a client (whose) babies were in the NICU and they can’t decorate for fall and so it is just a gift for us to be able to come home from the hospital and see a display like this out front.”

Not only do they drop off the pumpkins, but if you want them to, they also pick them up after Thanksgiving. They take the pumpkins to local farms to give to the animals to enjoy.

If you want a Porch Pop Indy display, you have to get on the list early. They usually open their list up in the early summer to start making reservations for services. They say the best way to secure a spot is to get on their email list through their website.
