Robbery leads to shooting in Sandy, one dies after being taken to hospital in critical condition

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — A man was shot following a robbery in Sandy, leaving him in critical condition.

According to Sandy Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:22 p.m. near 8720 S 90 E in Sandy. An attempted robbery of a person turned into an argument and resulted in one man being shot.

The person who was shot is a 40-year-old male, and he was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in “very critical condition.” According to Sgt. Olson with Sandy PD, he later died from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively working leads. Two witnesses are cooperating with police.

Suspects have not been identified, but police told ABC4 that they do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public. They believe that the attack was targeted, and that the shooter could have been a known party to the victim, though that has not been fully determined yet.
