Human remains found off of I-15 near Washington City

WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Human remains were found near the northbound side of I-15 near Washington City on Monday afternoon.

According to Sergeant Mike Alexander, with the Utah Highway Patrol, a work crew was picking up litter off of I-15 on Monday afternoon near mile marker 14, which is close to Washington City. While they were working, they discovered human remains approximately 50 feet off of the roadway.

After making the discovery, the work crew contacted authorities. Utah Highway Patrol responded to the area and secured the scene. Additionally, the Utah State Bureau of Investigation is also investigating the remains.

Sergeant Alexander stated that the investigation is ongoing and they are still working on gathering information. They have determined that the remains have been there for some time.

They have not released any additional information at this time.
